The Mayan Wedding Ceremony
a beautiful and authentic ancestral ceremony.
The Mayan officiant will offer prayers and blessings, invoking the Creator of the Universe, the four sacred directions, and the energies of nature to accompany and bless your union.
Guided by a guardian and heir of ancestral traditions and sacred prayers, the ceremony is carried out in a traditional way, with offerings, chants, and prayers in the original Mayan language, including explanation and guidance in Spanish, English, French, or Italian, allowing you to deeply understand the spiritual meaning of each moment of the ritual.
The couple is welcomed with ceremonial music, sacred chants, and the aroma of copal incense as they are guided toward the altar to begin the ceremony.
The sound of the conch shell announces the opening of the ritual, asking permission, attention, and blessings from the four sacred directions and the energies of nature.
During the ceremony, balché is shared, a sacred ancestral drink used as a symbol of spiritual connection and nourishment for the soul, while the couple is blessed with the purifying smoke of copal.
The couple offers and shares corn and cacao, symbols of abundance, fertility, and harmony for their journey together.
Ceremonial bracelets are offered as a representation of the bond of love and union, and at this moment rings, words, and vows may also be exchanged if desired.
Later, the ceremonial binding ritual takes place, joining the couple with a red cord as a symbol of their spiritual and energetic commitment.
The couple is blessed with prayers and white and yellow flower petals, representing the sun and the moon, feminine and masculine energies, and the union of their lives.
As a symbol of trust, protection, and positive thoughts, a flower is placed on the forehead, heart, and back of the neck of each person, representing love, clarity, and mutual care.
The couple symbolically plants a tree, placing this intention within it and offering water as a symbol of nurturing and growing their relationship through time.
The officiant may invite parents, family members, or loved ones to come forward (optional), offering copal so they may share prayers, blessings, and heartfelt wishes for this new chapter.
To conclude, a floral offering is made to the sea or to nature, accompanied by ceremonial music, chants, and the sound of the conch shell, closing the ceremony in an atmosphere of gratitude, harmony, and spiritual connection.
